RADIUS Authentication

Our RADIUS server supports multiple authentication methods, making it flexible for various network environments:

  • Hotspot (PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP) - Used for WiFi logins via captive portal.
  • DHCP & PPPoE - Ideal for broadband or fixed-line internet users.
  • 802.1X (EAP-TTLS) - Provides secure wired or WiFi login with advanced encryption.
  • OAuth2 - For seamless integration with Azure AD or Microsoft Entra ID.

RADIUS Authorization

We support a variety of RADIUS attributes to control user access and policies:

  • MikroTik Rate Limiter - Bandwidth control for MikroTik devices.
  • WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up / Max-Down - Bandwidth control for OpenWRT (+CoovaChilli), pfSense, OPNSense and other compatible systems.
  • VLAN ID - Assign VLANs, widely supported across most network devices.
  • Filter-ID - RFC standard for policy enforcement.

RADIUS Accounting

You can apply flexible access policies and limitations based on accounting data, such as session time limit and quota usage limit.

Time-Based Expiration
  • Expire access on a fixed date.
  • Expire after a set validity period (e.g., 2 hours after first login).
  • Restrict access to specific hours (e.g., weekdays 9 AM–5 PM, weekends 11 AM–5 PM).
Usage-Based Expiration
  • Limit by session count (daily, weekly, monthly, or total).
  • Limit by quota usage (daily, weekly, monthly, or total).

Team Management & Data Group

For example, two users can share the same Manager role with identical permissions, but belong to different Data Groups. One Manager might only access and manage Branch A, while the other can only work with Branch B. This ensures that even with the same role, users are restricted to the data that’s relevant to them, keeping your information secure and organized.

WiFi QR Access

Simplify WiFi access with ready-to-use QR Code.:

  • Create Wifi QR-Access - Each QR-Access is linked with a specific internet profile and NAS for seamless setup.
  • QR Code Access - Instantly generate a QR code for each bandwidth profile, which can be shared digitally with users or printed.
  • One-Scan Login - Users simply scan the QR code to automatically receive a unique username & password.
  • Hotspot Login - With credentials generated on the spot, users can connect to the hotspot and enjoy WiFi access right away.

You can create QR-Access for different user groups such as Guest WiFi, Staff WiFi, or specific teams like Managers. Once created, generate a QR Code and share it with your users — they can use the NetradiaScan mobile app to generate their login credentials instantly.

You also have control over how credentials are issued: they can be generated automatically or require admin approval before new users can join the wifi.

  • Logins & Authentication: Each user login consumes CPU and RAM. More simultaneous logins = higher load.
    • Hotspot: Moderate resource usage
    • DHCP: High resource usage
    • PPPoE: High resource usage
    • 802.1X: Very high resource usage
  • Accounting Updates: Every accounting packet is written to the database. Shorter update intervals (e.g., every 1–5 minutes) create a much heavier load than longer intervals (e.g., every 30–60 minutes). The more aggressive the accounting frequency, the more CPU, RAM, and storage resources it consumes.

You can customize the accounting update interval during internet profile creation.

Each plan includes fixed resources (vCPU, RAM, and database size). If these limits are reached, your service may experience slowdowns or interruptions:

  • RAM full: The system may stop working due to Out-of-Memory protection.
  • CPU maxed out: Performance slows down (e.g. WiFi logins might take 5–10 seconds) until usage decreases.
  • Database storage full: New accounting data cannot be saved, which can affect some services.

To avoid this, we recommend upgrading your resources once usage reaches 80–90% to ensure smooth and uninterrupted service. You can monitor your resource usage in your admin menu.

  • Performance: With 0.02 vCPU & 128 MB RAM, the system can handle approximately 2,000 logins per day (with accounting updates every 30 minutes), and double it up to 4,000 logins per day if accounting is limited to login and logout events only.
  • Storage: 1 GB database can hold up to ~1,000,000 WiFi vouchers and ~1 year of session history logs.

We also provide automatic cleanup tools to help you remove expired data and keep storage remain available.
